ï¿½One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
ï¿½

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
ï¿½

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
ï¿½

"It was great, Dad."
ï¿½

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
ï¿½

"Oh yeah," said the son.
ï¿½

"So, tell me, what you learned from the trip?" asked the father.
ï¿½

The son answered:
ï¿½

"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
ï¿½

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
ï¿½

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
ï¿½

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
ï¿½

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
ï¿½

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
ï¿½

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
ï¿½

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
ï¿½

The boy's father was speechless.
ï¿½

Then his son added, ï¿½Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
ï¿½

Isn't perception a wonderful thing?
ï¿½

ï¿½If we all saw everything the same way, there is hardly anything to learn
ï¿½

ï¿½Next time someone disagrees with you remember that it is an opportunity to learn a new perception.
